Giant Schnauzer Club – 17th October 2021

The Giant Schnauzer Club held it’s 23 class Championship show at Tomlinson’s Boarding Kennels, Markfield, Leicestershire, with a very nice entry of 50 dogs which is good for the present time. Chairman Tony McDermott opened the show and made everyone feel welcome. There was a warm and friendly atmosphere, and I really enjoyed my day.
Club shows are always very special and in these days with falling entries I hope the breed clubs will continue to make a difference to our enjoyable hobby.
Quality was a bit mixed with anything from too heavy and clumsy to some that were a bit too light and fine for a working breed.
There were more bitches than dogs but Best In Show went to CH. Riesenheim Taio Cruz to Ruffhaus, a 3yr old dog winning his 5th CC. RBIS & BOS was Dasval Stands With A Fist attending her first show and winning the CC, not a bad start for a novice!
Tribune Vom Schloss Ehrenberg at Lourane, TAF NAF was today’s best puppy, with Adreana’s Bellini going RBPIS at just 6 months and a day! Best Veteran was CH Draxpark Black Jack, and best Pepper & Salt went to Treuherz Georgia. A big thank you to everyone for making this a day for me to remember.

Minor Puppy Dog (2)
1st Aylett’s Rillaton Ludek Philip, P/S, just over 6 months, masculine head, ears need to settle, strong bone and body, still got some puppy fat, well-muscled quarters, moved OK.
2nd Dedross Adacolm Leningrad, 6 months today so still learning the ropes, good length of head, well bodied. Failed in hind movement but he’s only a baby.

Puppy Dog ((1)
1st Lunt’s Tribune Vom Schloss Ehrenberg at Lourane, TAF, NAF, 10 months black with a strong head, expressive eyes, clean neckline, fit body, harsh jacket, easy mover, well handled, showed with composure. BP

Junior Dog (3)
1st Cullen’s Philoma One Night Only, 13 months, comfortable winner, correct proportions, attractive head, just needs a little more beard to complete the picture, excellent quarters, well presented and handled, good feet.
2nd Adamson’s Here Comes Trouble Radinie to Borderstorm, Imp Cze. Yearling needs a bit more coat but what he has is of good texture, a bit wayward with his ear carriage today, quite a sound mover.
3rd Watmough & Allen’s Minnienoon Jazz A Matazz with Andmaura, 14 months P/S, big body and rib, excellent bone. A little plain in the head and could have better layback of shoulder. Fit and well-muscled, does not want to carry any more weight, sympathetically handled.

PG Dog (2) Abs (1)
1st Trafford’s Treuherz Cydney, 2 yr P/S, light on his feet and went well, responding well to his handler, good head, eyes and expression, excellent reach of neck, ample bone & body.

Limit Dog (4)
1st Ellis’s Dasval Little Big Man, 2 yrs, strong, fit and robust, in good form. Excellent coat, good outline, quality head, dark eyes, good depth of body, excellent bone and feet, steady showman, litter brother to bitch CC winner, quite a handful but his handler coped very well.
2nd Parker’s Draxpark Fantasticus, 2 years, no mistaking him for anything but an all male, good head, arched neck, fit body, harsh coat, ample bone, moved and showed well.
3rd Melville & Fisher’s Philoma American President, 2 yrs, smart young man but not the coat texture of 1 and 2, compact body, well presented and handled, keen expression, showed with focus.

Open Dog (4) Abs (1)
1st Brown & Tunnicliff’s Draxpark Hot Tip, 4 yrs, solid looking male in good coat, masculine head, dark eyes, excellent bone & substance, well handled, moved and showed well.
2nd Woodgate’s Dasval Good and Ready, 5 yrs with all the essentials, failed in front and front movement today, good coat and body, pleasing head and eyes, moved OK, well handled.
3rd Cullen’s Skansen Pickpocket II Philoma Imp USA, the first docked Giant today, clean outline but could move with a little more purpose, coat not at it’s best. Good length of head, strong body, later won the progeny with three of his offspring.

Champion Dog (2)
1st CC & BIS, Staples CH. Riesenheim Taio Cruz to Ruffhaus, 3 yrs, handsome Giant in good form, quality head, expressive eyes, harsh jacket, arched his neck and really looked the part, strong body, very fit and well-muscled, sound mover, composed showman, well handled. I liked him very much.
2nd Veal’s CH Philoma Man After Midnight, 6 yrs plus, another easy mover who showed very well, typical head, excellent body also fit and well-muscled, good outline and quarters, handled to advantage.

Veteran Dog (2)
1st Parker’s CH. Draxpark Black Jack, 8 ½ yrs taking the job very seriously, pleasing head and expression, firm body, well presented and handled, absolutely no sign of old age creeping up.
2nd Brown & Tunnicliff’s Honoring Major vd Telgthoeve Imp Nld, 8 yrs P/S still behaving like a puppy, carrying a bit too much weight, good coat, happy character.

Minor Puppy Bitch (4)
1st Lowood-Price’s Adreana’s Bellini, 6 mnths today, quick learner and she got the hang of what to do straight away, promising baby, very shapely, good topline and quarters, attractive head and expression, went well.
2nd Kirby’s Adreana’s Margarita, litter sister to 1st, need to improve in ear carriage, good bone and depth of body, moved quite well but needs to concentrate!
3rd Aylett’s Rillaton Lakota For Me, P/S of 6 mnths, standing a bit ‘bum high’ today, good bone, plenty of body, moved quite well but needs to firm up in topline.

Puppy Bitch (1)
1st Parker’s Fostergiants Revelation at Draxpark, 11 months, this handler got the best out of all his charges, good bone and feet, clean and well presented, harsh coat, used her neck to advantage, strong body, still a bit loose in movement.

Junior Bitch (1)
Willis’ Limara La Luna, 15 months, good type and quality, well-constructed with good head and expression, excellent bone, tight feet, well bodied and coated, moved and showed steadily.

Novice Bitch (4)
1st George’s Dasval Stands With A Fist, 2 years, such an easy winner of this class and finished the day by winning the CC in good company. Classy young bitch in lovely form, very feminine in head and outlook, clean neckline, good topline and quarters, well fitting coat, excellent condition and muscle tone, easy movement, showed with composure, handled by Sophie Wildig who knows how to get the best out of any dog she handles.
2nd Rawlinson’s Liebekarma Best Of Friends, 2 years, good honest bitch, well-conditioned and very fit, not using her ears to best advantage, good bone and body, went well.
3rd Turner’s Dayshaun Pink Flamingo, not the coat or presentation of 1 and 2, arched her neck nicely, good length of head, not moving as well as those above her.

Post Graduate Bitch (1)
Reeves & Bullock’s Ouseview Hot Legs, 2 ½ years, harsh coat, good bone and substance but I would prefer her a little more feminine in head and outlook. Failed in movement, does not want to carry any more weight. Lacking animation.

Limit Bitch (5)
1st Veal’s Philoma American In Paris, 2 years, stylish and showy bitch, on her toes, feminine head, keen expression, well carried ears, used her neck, easy mover, good feet, went well.
2nd Velhino & Donley’s Echodream Cleopatra. This was the closest decision I had to make all day as this was a very good bitch, quality head,strong body, good topline, splendid coat, well handled and presented, well proportioned, Focused showgirl, I just felt the winner moved slightly better in front but it was a very close thing.
3rd Rawlinson’s Grovelea Lindy Hop, 6 years, solid bitch moving well, clean silhouette, excellent bone and feet, harsh jacket, well handled.

Open Bitch (4) Abs (1)
1st Lowood -Price’s Dasval as Good As It Gets, 5 years, easy winner here, excellent size and type, quality head, good coat texture, showy and co-operative, good body and bone.
2nd Foster’s Eskaidee Katinka, 7 yrs, doe not look or feel it I’m sure, excellent bone and substance, well-muscled quarters, moved well.
3rd Parker’s Draxpark Check Me Out, 3 years, typical head, excellent coat texture, compact body and depth, well handled to look her best, fit and well bodied.

Champion Bitch (2) Abs (1)
1st Cullen’s Philoma Leading Lady, 3 yrs, very nice to look at standing and moving, expertly handled and presented, excellent outline and overall proportions, arched her neck, keen intelligent expression. Good bone and feet, moved and showed well. RCC in a very close context.

Veteran Bitch (3) Abs (2)
1st George & Mellor’s Debutante Vom Schloss Ehrenberg Mit Daserbe ShCM VW, Imp Deu. 9 yrs, excellent bone and substance, solid old girl, a bit too fond of her food! Relaxed showgirl, quite a good mover, well handled.
